CLIENT: MEDELCO INC. PROJECT: RECYCLE A CUP PRODUCT DESIGN, ENGINEERING AND PACKAGING DESIGN

Recycle A Cup cuts and separates used Keurig K-Cups so they may be recycled or repurposed. This innovative, patent pending product provides a needed solution to a global problem as 9.6 billion single serve coffee cups are generated each year. That's 2.6 billion cubic feet of space from K-Cups!

StudioMoya developed this unique product for Medelco, Inc. Our consumer research captured insights from casual and serious coffee drinkers which helped us to design and engineer this unique product solution. Our work included industrial design, mechanical engineering and manufacturing support services; we worked closely with our client and their OEM vendor from T1 through T4 samples and provided on-going design engineering and manufacturing support. We also created the structural and graphic packaging design which included a consumer facing user manual that provided useful re-use and recycling tips.

Recycle A Cup is an IDSA 2015 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) Finalist.

CAD design engineering development: digital files used to create custom parts and assemblies. Several rounds of 3D printed FDM and stereolithography prototypes were used to test and improve functionality on hundreds of K-Cups.
